Same story as everyone else's, except that he called himself "Mike" from the Microsoft Technical Department. I knew immediately that it was a scam but decided to have fun with it and kept him on the phone for a while asking lots and lots of dumb-sounding questions while feigning great concern about the "problems" they had detected on my computer (hey, I'm retired; I have time on my hands). I asked "Mike" where he was physically located, where he was making the call from, and he told me he was in California. I asked for a call-back number in case we were to get disconnected, and the number he gave me was 201-280-2011. BTW, it comes up on caller ID as a "private number" or "unknown number." I said, "That's a New Jersey number; you just told me you're in California." He got all flustered and gave the phone to someone else (both had heavy Indian-sounding accents), who started the same nonsense again. Got tired of it, and told him I'd look into it and call him back. He told me he'd wait for my call. He's still waiting.
