Newcomers to this thread may want to ask themselves, when was the last time you had a good experience with a business – any business – and came to 800notes.com to post praise? Never. How about all the people (if it's indeed more than one person) who have posted in this thread about how wonderful this business is? Have they posted in *any* other threads praising *any* other business? No.

Suspicious? Oh yes.

Firstly, thanks to everyone for sharing.

Had a similar experience as most have posted here.  Was contacted by Jen, met with Larry Spradling. Took the personality test. Came back for the second meeting.

In addition to the red flags / warnings posted by everyone on this board, I'll add this.

Larry told me that someone with my education, experience, age and background (I'm 40 w/ an MBA and 10+ yrs of experience), I should be making almost double what I am today -- Base Salary alone.  Without asking me a single question assessing my job skills or ability, Larry told me that he would be targeting a job placement of a minimum 78% increase from my current salary!  Amazing, right?  Makes it sound as if landing the perfect, executive level job is all about sliding through the interview and is totally independent of whether you can ACTUALLY DO THE JOB.

When I asked for historical data showing the success rate of Larry's previous clients getting the jobs they're targeting, Larry's response was that 100% of the time, they get the job they want.  REALLY?  100%?  Not 90%, Not 95%.  100%!!!

I further asked Larry if I could speak to one of his previous clients, with their permission, to discuss the value of Larry's service.  He told me that his clients' privacy concerns would not make that possible,  You would think that if he's hitting 1.000, SOMEONE would tell him "hey Larry, if you ever need a testimonial or referral, let your clients know they can call me anytime."  I know I would.

And how much did Larry want for all this?  Almost $8,000 - mostly up front.  No recourse if you don't get the job or unhappy with the results.

No sir, I'll pass.

Same experience here.  Could it be that he and TOP are legit?  I'm very tempted to spend the $5,775, but very weary if he can't put me in touch with recent clients.  I'm just curious to know if anyone reading these postings, actually went through with it and had a positive experience in finding a good job.

I got a call earlier this week and met with Rob Mashigian, VP of Client Services today.  Went through much of what has been said and they wanted me to come back next week for a 2 hour meeting.  One of the things he said was they have a "0%" failure rate.  Hmmm.  Why didn't he say they had a 100% success rate?  Bet he didn't know I caught that.  I was considering going in for the meeting but after ready these posts, think I'll pass.  Thanks to all for your honesty and feedback.  Sounds like we are all skeptical and when you don't have a good feeling about something - go with your gut.  Plan to send him an email and pass on this "so-called" opportunity.  Thanks again everyone.

I received an email today from Brenda. She mentioned that she had come across my resume online and an executive staff member was interested in discussing my recent accomplishments and future career plans. She also said that they did not have a position available for me at the moment, but they wanted to discuss my present career search as well as explore potential future opportunities.

I haven't received a phone call but the number she had at the bottom of her email was 972-386-7417. My guess is that they changed their number because of this particular string of complaints.

When researching TOP all I was able to find is their job website and 3 different sites all containing larryspradling.com of some sort. A company, one as knowledgable in tecnology as this company claims they are, would know that it is not necessary to create 3 different websites. When someone searches the name Larry Spradling, the one site, if properly advertised and set up, will return in the search.

Of course it goes without saying that even if this company is legit it is going to cost an arm and a leg. Something else that automatically tipped me off to a real bad stink was there were no prices listed on their site. Usually when a price is not listed it is because that company knows if you see the price you will not call. That is one of their marketing tools, get you in the door, tell you all the wonderful things they will do and draw you in. Then, comes the price. It works because I have seen 2 people post in this thread, after ALL the negative things people have said, that they were considering paying close to $6000 for this service!

Thanks everyone for your posts and sharing your information; you all just confirmed what I was already thinking.

I definitely see a pattern here. My experience was similar to the one posted by no_sir on
13 Jun 2012. I met with Larry and he seemed like a nice guy. He was very smooth and I recognize a good salesman, since I am one myself. Nothing wrong with that as long as you can deliver on your promises. In this case his promises seem too good to be true, especially in this economy. I won't be going to the second meeting thanks to the information I found here. I am going to go with my gut feeling on this one. "You should not have to pay to find a job" - best advice I have been given.
