The DNC isn't a call blocker and can not protect you from the illegal callers, extortion scammers, foreign country's and frauds. Criminals do not obey laws simply said.    They use spoofed numbers which make it hard to track them down.. it takes time to do this and many subpoenas for call records.

For a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

I was busy trimming my tree in the backyard when the phone rang with these losers. I'm on the do not call list (which is useless) but still get so many dirtbag scam calls that I don't bother to go answer the phone unless I can see the caller ID. I was right this time but sometimes I miss an important call because of it. So annoying. Wish something could be done about these phone companies and corrupt politicians who allow this to happen.
