calling while i am at work but after reading these posts i will not answer there calls. they are also not allowed to call your employer that is also stated in the fair debt act. alot of people on here are correct never give out any information to  anyone over the phone and ask for what they want in writing.

They are staff with Hecker and Associates, who only buy very old debt and try to collect on it. Chances are, they may be aware that the statute of limitations for collecting on the debt may have passed, or is very close to being obsolete. Don't let them harass you! They are experts at using the phone as a weapon.

Just in case you're wondering, they are ONLY licensed in New Jersey, so they can only take you to court there. Even if you are in NJ, chances are, they won't because they are lazy and know they may put a great deal of work into losing a judgment.

Hecker and his guys are a bunch of scumbags... Don't give them a red cent, and don't expect them to do what they promise even if you voluntarily give them money. If they have your bank account information, they may well screw you over for a long time for a lot of dough...

They will work you for all you have.  In my case, I'm guessing they somehow scraped up something my X did not settle, or get a release on, from 10 or even 20 years ago.
Do not answer their calls. This will only encourage them. It is UNLIKELY that you are obligated to fork over ANY $$. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES send them any financial info or money. If, in your delusion you feel somehow compelled to deal with them, USE AN ATTORNEY working for YOU.
No, I'm not touting attorneys, but they can save your [***] when they are paid by you to handle things like this for you.

So hesre's my vote that this is an excellent post and with excellent advice, excellent link, to which I connected to discover that the statute of limitations depending on the state,  is oftern only 3 or 4 years.
The 7 year term appears to correspond to the limit for the Credit Reporting Agencies listing derogatory info.
This is even better news for fighting the Collectors, and the date for the limit for collection is earlier than most of us thought too.
Check your state regs as the collectors will surely lie at to how they can legally hassle you.
Get a creit report. Once any items are gone there, there is no question that the collectors are not legal. 7 years is often twice as long as they are permitted to collect.
