missed call. no message.

Call came in 8:00 pm. Unbelievable!
Caller id said LA CNTY FOP C4C. Rang twice. I did not answer. No message left. In fact, they
disconnected before outgoing message came on.

Asked for me, when I asked who they were they hung up. Puting the # on direessence ct to voicemail! [***] ***es.

Guess what...they're legit.  Just got one of these calls myself. They hung up after getting my voicemail.  But I wanted to know exactly why someone is calling me from LA County so I Googled the caller ID name and eventually found out they are called LA County Fraternal Order of Police.  (FOP).  Here's their website:

They're just trying to get donations for various police related causes and charities. The C4C stands for "Corporations for Character".  Someone previously contacted them directly to verify legitimacy and the representative replied back  ".....the Fraternal Order of Police has entered into an agreement with Corporations for Character (C4C) to solicit donations from the public to support the programs of the Fraternal Order of Police. The money generated by this state wide campaign is used to fund the programs of the organization."  The guy even gave his contact info.

So there you have it...Contribute ...or not.
