It's the VA Regional office in Decatur GA (automated delayed call back in lieu of waiting on hold) to speak with a rep.

The V.A. is closed on Saturdays, and I just received a call from this number. It was a man asking for me by a previous married name. The V.A. has my correct name.

Got a call from this number but didn't answer it. I figure, if it's legit, they'll leave a message. No message. I called back from a stores phone, and it is an Atlanta VA internal number. I think the VA know there's a scam going on, so that is why they re-direct you to contact the 1-800 number to contact them. Just block the number on your phone like I did and they can't get your information.

Received a call from this number on a Friday around 4:30 p.m. (very late in the day for the VA.) The caller ID said "US Government," so I assumed it was a scam and didn't answer. Every call I've ever received from the actual VA over the past 20 years has said "Department of Veterans Affairs" somewhere in the caller ID.

Are legitimate VA reps trying to update records.  This rep had all of my info as I questioned who he was.  He was correct on everything and only wanted to know if I was still claiming one dependent.  This is important as far as VA disability claims compensation is concerned.  No problem.
