UPDATE: I took the call from them at 8 a.m. this morning and played into their game to get as much info as possible. They are reading from scripts, and if you ask them anything that goes off-script, they transfer you. I spoke to 3 people this morning: Louis Wilson, Heather Lawson and Ben Foster. In looking up Heather Lawson, I see complaints about this scam dating back to 2006!! Why can't we stop this?! This personal information should not be released when people apply for a payday loan.

When I asked for an address, they gave me 42 Broadway 5th Floor NY, NY 10004, and said they are the DCA Law Firm - Department of Corporate Affairs. In actuality, there IS a DCA at this address, but it is the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs.

When "Ben Foster" no longer felt like making up stories to answer my questions (such as "If this was in collections, why haven't I received a written notice within 5 days of initial contact, as per the law under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)?"), he said they would go ahead and process my file and we could deal with it at the courthouse on Monday. I sweetly answered "Oh yes, let's go ahead and do that." He was a bit surprised and then asked for my attorney's info, so I said "Yes, he definitely wants to talk to you" and gave him the info. Then I told him that we were aware this is a scam, that I have already reported him to the FTC and FBI, and that all calls were being recorded. I told him to never ever call here again or he would be the one showing up at the courthouse. I hung up. No callback yet. I am sick to my stomach with what these people are doing to scared, financially-strapped people.

On Aug 4th I had received a call at my place of work (I was off). My boss gave me the message on Friday, so I called them back. The number being used was 646-918-8123. I spoke to a man going by the name of Jason Kennedy, with a heavy Indian accent. He said he worked for Dept of Corporate Affairs, 42 Broadway 5th Floor, New York 10004. He stated that I owed CPA (Cash Pertners of America) $1097, but with court and attorney fees I owed $5484.87. I asked when this loan was given to me and he said either 2009 or 2010 (he was not sure). I then asked the supposed web site that I got this loan from and all he would give me was an IP address - 623.12.65.358 (don't know if it is real or not and don't really want to try it). I asked him why I had never heard about this before and he said that I had received an e mail, which of course I didn't. He said that if I did not decide to settle on that day, he was sending everything to court the next day. I told him to have fun doing that because I don't know of any court system in the US that is open on Saturday. He asked for my attorney's name and his license number. I explained that I don't know of anyone that knows their attorney's license number. He then wanted me to send him a copy of my bank statement, which I refused. I explained to him that I got a similar call about a year ago and had reported it to the local police (which happens to be a relative), the state police, the FBI, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), and the BBB. I then explained that I would have no problem doing this again if he ever called me again. He then said that I could be expecting papers to appear in court and I would morethan likely be going to jail because I was being brought up on 3 counts of fraud, 1 count of theft, and some other one. I told him that was fine, it would be a nice vacation. He also said that he would be contacting my employer because a pay day loan is a loan against a person's pay check. I told him that he was too late because he had already spoke to my employer the day before when he called and she knew that he was just some low life scammer. I told him that if he was a real attorney, he would have all the information in front of him to answer all of my questions. He should know the actual company that I borrowed money from, the exact date, and the exact amount because no loan company like that will loan an odd amount like $1097. He then asked me if I was willing to settle this debt now and I responded with maybe after I talk to my attorney and he hung up. I am thinking of calling him back later just to mess with him some more. Everyone needs to just keep reporting this information and hopefully some day, we can get them shut down before anyone else gets scammed.

I got a call today and he said I owed 5486 dollars and some change. The first number they called me from was from Canada. They left a voicemail and I listened to it and the guy named Michael couldn't even get their offices number right. Micheal sounded like an Indian dude. I asked him a bunch of questions and every answer was like I can't disclose that information. Good thing I don't use that bank anymore. I asked him how come I haven't been contacted by mail and he said I was through e-mail. Aren't they supposed to send a certified letter or something giving you a chance to settle out of court. Well anyway after listening to this I hung up. Thanks but no thanks I am not in the position to just be giving out money.
