I have been receiving harassing phone calls from the these people and have tried my best to ignore them but finally decided to call them back today and deal with them. If ANYONE leaves messages with you or anyone else threatening to show up at your home or office they are not a legitimate collection agency. If ANYONE leaves a message with your place of employment or a family member or friend, threatening to take legal action, they are not a legitimate collection agency. FILE A REPORT with the Consumer Protection Agency as well as your state Attorney General's office. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AS A CONSUMER. These are not legal tactics. Companies cannot give out personal information to others and cannot threaten legal action against you or threaten to show up at your house or place of business.
I told the guy today that I have his voice mail recording and will be submitting it as evidence along with my complaint. He then asked if that was all I had to say and I said "yes" and he hung up.
These people are trying to collect debts that have either, already been negotiated with the original creditor, or were included in bankruptcy filings. DO NOT SEND THEM ANYTHING OR CONTINUE TO HAVE CONTACT WITH THEM. Tell them you are filing/have filed a complaint.
