same thing happened to me today called my cell phone 3x in a row claim he had my brother but hung up not giving him a chance to say anything else its a scam thank you

My girlfriend got a call from this 215-380-2916 number she was told her brother was in an accident wit the callers cousin and he was being held in the trunk of the car that he hit. The caller (a man with a spanish accent) wanted money and he would let her brother go. Now you colud imagine how upset she was but at the same time i remembered reading a story on facebook about android phones being able to be hacked so i called the guy back. We were argueing back and forth for a minute or so until i said are you a hacker? He laughed an hung up on me so i googled the number and came across a few websites that said it was a scam which i already knew. Thank god for google right

I received a call this morning 9:49am telling me my brother had been in an accident they were holding him in the projects and called me instead of the police. He said (man with a foreign accent) my brother gave him my number.
When I asked what project and where was he the man asked why I ask so many questions and hung up on me.
I called my brother who was out of state and he's fine Thank God. He said it must be a SCAMMER.

Pretty much same story as above... My brother was in a car accident and gave this guy my phone number to call me for help.  Thankfully, I had missed a couple of calls from this number a few weeks ago.  They had called 3 times in 15 minutes without leaving a message, so I researched the number.  When they called back today (2-3 weeks later), I knew it was a scam.  Eventually I told him I knew it was a scam.  Thought of a couple of better replies after I hung up...  "My brother's a priest... you do know that you've kidnapped a priest, right?", or rabbi, or off-duty police officer, etc.

Same as stories above. Knew my fathers info, my mothers info, my mothers maiden name, knew my birthplace and old home address. Claimed to kill me or cause harm to my family if we did not send money.
