Avoid tech support phone scams

Cybercriminals don't just send fraudulent email messages and set up fake websites. They might also call you on the telephone and claim to be from Microsoft. They might offer to help solve your computer problems or sell you a software license. Once they have access to your computer, they can do the following:

◾Trick you into installing malicious software that could capture sensitive data, such as online banking user names and passwords. They might also then charge you to remove this software.

◾Take control of your computer remotely and adjust settings to leave your computer vulnerable.

◾Request credit card information so they can bill you for phony services.

◾Direct you to fraudulent websites and ask you to enter credit card and other personal or financial information there.

Neither Microsoft nor our partners make unsolicited phone calls (also known as cold calls) to charge you for computer security or software fixes.

Called after I said hello.  Phishing for a call back perhaps?

I just got this call from 215220221 and didn't answer it ! it looks like they same person calling me like yesterday but from another number same location ?

He called my phone three times within a hourhe said he was a tech calling about my computer he even said my first and last name i told him i havnt used my computer in three months (which is the truth) then he finally hung up, my fiance called the school district nimber back and it came up as a walmart number to give gift cards! They are clearly scammers! Dont give out info!

Same thing above. The person called from (215) 220-2321 and my phone said "Pennsylvania Call" and that is the state I live in. So I just said you needed to take some English lessons obliviously if you want to be a Microsoft worker. So I said remove me from the list. Then I hung up. 10 sec. later, my phone rings. "Microsoft Worker" said that I needed to update my computer. And I said the same thing above. So then another 10 sec. later, my phone rings. The "Microsoft Worker" called me a As**hol*. So I hung up. After that the phone rings. I answer, but leave it alone. Then about a minute later, I scream as loud as I could (Scared my daughter down stairs ;). So then I lay it down again and 5 min. later, I blow this whistle. And the whistle was from a Titanic museum so it was loud. Then the "Microsoft Worker" screamed and hung up. That is how I got the "Microsoft Worker" to STOP CALLING.
