The McGraw-Hill Companies telephone number 212 512-2524 has been spoofed and is appearing as if it is coming from the company however it is coming from scammers overseas and they are trying to gain access into your computer.

Received a call from 212-438-7895 this morning. Caller ID says "McGraw Hill Com." Asked for my father. I could barely understand the heavy Indian accent of the woman who called. I asked why and who she was calling from. I told her that it was a scam. She insisted that it was not. Then I asked for a number to call back and the name of her supervisor to confirm that this was not a scam. She hung up on me.

Well, there hasn't been a post on this board in a while, but I just got the same thing a few minutes ago, so anyone who ends up on this page, this scam is still alive and well as of today.  Same heavy Indian-ish accent, aggressive, and clearly bogus caller.  Beware.

My fiance received a call from 212-438-7895, called id was McGraw Hill, stating that are computer was being attacked by a virus and they needed him to turn on the computer so they could stop the virus from attacking. He asked were they got the number from and they stated from were we registered our computer. Thank goodness he knew the call sounded fishy and hung up. I am just glad i found this site to let my friends and family know this is a scam and not to trust it.

U just got a call from a woman with a heavy accent who said I had a very bad virus on my computer.  When I asked how she knew that and a few other questions, it was apparent that she had no idea what kind of computer I had.  Then she put her "supervisor" on the phone with me to walk me through a "safe off-line check" for viruses on my computer.  Very suspicious.  I hung up.  Can't this be reported to the phone company or police?
