The women hardly spoke english, and the background was very noisy. She was trying to get my bank information to send me "free money" from the US government. When I told her I didn't understand why she was trying to send me money, and it sounded like a scam, she hung up.

I received a call from this number for my grand daughter who is only 13 years old.  Fortunately for me it was my number they called instead of the cell phone number of the phone that I brought for her.  It was a guy who sounded white, with a lot of noise in the background, he asked for her by name and I said in a sturdy voice "In regards to what? " twice then he hung up.  When I called the number back I got a voice message and then it hung up immediately.  Someone please address this.

You would be wise to be that "someone" to address this. Inform your granddaughter of the dangers of answering calls from unknown numbers. The sooner she learns, the better off she'll be.

There isn't really anyone here who can address it for you. We're all potential victims of scams, who come here to report on calls we've gotten, to help others stay out of trouble.

I just got a call from this number as well, it was a middle eastern guy asking for me. He knew my first and last name. When he asked for me I said "Who's this?" then he hung up. It was a very noisy background as well. I was suspicious of the call in the first place because the number came up as "DC" and that's not common.
