Your guess would be wrong. SCAMMERS are calling, not Microsoft.

This number was 1-202-202-1234 Keeps calling my house phone last night they called at 06:29 again telling me my computer is sending errors to Microsoft in which he needed me to let them in my computer to fix it. when I asked where he was calling from he said New York, I said where in New York he stated that he just needed to get into my computer and fix the problem. I said I don't have a problem. he then said your computer has been sending errors it has to be infected with spyware. I asked his name and could not understand him. he did not speak English very well, very hard to understand what he was saying,

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

It is a scam.  Nobody ever would call you about your computer.  I have just decided that if anyone calls me about my computer again, I am just going to lie and say I do not have a computer!!!  that should take care of it, ha ha.

I answered and he told me he was calling from my internet providor (he didnt give me a name) and accused my computer of sending harmful messages out. I told him "i think youre full of ***t" and waited for a response, he didnt hang up be he didnt say anything either, so I hung up.
He spoke with an indian accent and gave no name or company name.

I hope no one falls for this.
