A man with a foreign accent called me and knew my email address, bank routing number, the name of my bank, my credit score, my social security number, and appearntky my phone number also.
I was very careful to pay close attention to what he said because he seemed to know a lot about me even though I have never heard of the company he represented.
He identified himself as James Thompson from AmeriCard, he said I had been approved for a pay day loan up to $5,000 U.S. Dollars. Anyone operating within the United States should not feel the need to emphasize U.S. currency. But I have recently become unemployed within the last few weeks so I said "no, thank you" and ended the conversation. He called me back immediately and said if I was able to provide $150.00 in my bank account I would gain access to the $5,000. So my account should read 5150.00, assuming I only had $150.00 in my account. Again I said "no thank you" and hung up the phone. I checked my account just to be on the safe side and sure enough a payment of $87.00 was scheduled to be taken out, I explained to the bank what happened and they will not allow any payments to go through. It came up as SAVINGS MAKE MONEY on my statement. The number was always the same and the same man answers every time. The number is 1-(979) 639-7734 from La Grange, Tx on my caller I.D.
