Today while on the internet with Microsoft Edge, I experienced 2 pop ups with statements expressing danger to files, apps, etc and not to shut down the computer, etc. or I'll experience data loss. I was also frozen in place . There was also a pop up with a long code expressing basically the same issues with my Windows Defender. The instructions were to call "Microsoft" (SCAMMERS I FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY!!!!) (800)804-0428. Unfortunately, I took the bate and believed the scammers were Microsoft. I called the number on the pop up. A woman answered and stated she was a Microsoft Support Staff individual. I let her remotely access my computer. She stated that I had over 300 viruses and literally showed me a long list and a code sheet of some type that steted that my computer was indeed infected!!!!!! She went on with our remote session and asked if I use my computers for banking, etc. I got suspicious here. She stated that this situation be fixed, etc and proceeded to literally document a laundry list of my computer's problems...This will cost $500.00. I hung up here. I called Microsoft immediately afterwards and reported this mess and we basically had to reboot my computer: My scammer placed my computer in Quiet Mode and locked out my internet completely, preventing my tech support from remote access. Thankfully, recovery and good over evil prevailed!!!!!!!!!!! I did not have any viruses, etc. The scammers want your $ and will jack up your computer if you say no! You can shut down your computer with these vicious misleading scammers messages that are not from Microsoft and you will not harm apps, files, etc. Thankfully, the legitimate Microsoft Support Staff helped me. Thank You MICROSOFT!!!!!
