Guy named jeff answered my Craigslist and tried to scam me into fedexing him my for sale item and he would pay by check. Problem is, my item was a couch and loveseat! Obvious scammer.

Same here, "Jeff" texted around noon about my craigslist ad, said he was in MN but would pay me extra to remove the ad while he sent payment and arrange shipping via Fedex, my ad was for a ten-liter diesel truck engine weighing over 600lbs...

The exact thing happened to me with a computer. So glad I looked up the number. If he responds to an add, ignore it!

I got one today. Would pay me $30 to wait for a cashiers check for my $300 cameral lens. Has an Oregon phone number but said they were in MN. I said no thanks. (Sounded fishy). Googled the phone number and found this.
