Did not answer the call but got the same pre-recorded message today around 10:20am ... something like "police recommend protection and we'll put a small sign in your yard and install a new security system for absolutely free". what bs. If i am on the do not call list, how do these solicitors still get my phone #?!

There is no way in hell that I would buy from these people because of their stupid telemarketing antics but they may be a legitimate company. Electronics are very inexpensive. They're probably saying that they will give you the security system for free (including the free sign lol) ... but their monthly monitoring fee is going to be super pricey. That's where they earn their money. It's like a cellphone company - they give you the phone for free and then charge you monthly for the service.

A few months ago, a young man called with a survey about home security. Not sure if the calls are related but these home security firms are getting super aggressive, bothersome, and "spammish."

I got a call from 971-220-1971. My voice mail picked up the call and there was thirty seconds of silence and then it hung up. Look, if they can't manage their robo-caller - would we buy a security system from them. I'm gonna say no.

Got call from this number comes up as "Service Call".  I'm on the DNC list and so I pressed the prompts to get through to a Telemarketer.  I asked if this was ADT, he said no we're better than ADT.  I asked what company and he hung up!!!

If you have  phone service w/ Verizon~ (digital land line)  you can block all calls that do not identify on the caller ID. There is also a DND option. (do not disturb) you can turn it on and off as you wish !  Like ! ;)

Received a recorded message, stating that if I would allow them to place a sign in my front yard, I would get a free security system.  No charge for the installation or the system itself.   I was to press #1 if I wanted more info.  But if I wanted to be placed on a Do-Not-Call-List, I was to press # 9.

HA!  I pressed 9, but that's the number my phone company uses to save the call for 30 days.

Beware of horrible home alarm contracts and practices which may include:
1. they tell you it's a 2-year contract but it's really 5 years in the fine print
2. there may be a hidden installation charge and other hidden fees
3. they tell you it's a free system so you think you get to keep it after the contract expires (false!)
4. they won't tell you you're really renting the system with rental charges waived in the contract
5. when the contract runs out, they make it hard to return the system and hit you with rental fees
6. you may need to pay someone to remove it from your home
7. you may be charged for "damaged" parts after you return them
