It may or may not be a scam....so far it's unknown. However, it does have potential for identity theft so, for future reference for this thread and because "it" has apparently found yet another new number, I'm adding this to this thread :
1. In your privacy settings, hide your phone number and email address. There is really no reason this info needs to be visible on Facebook.
2 . If you get the text, delete/block this person, and report the Facebook account as either fake, spam, or scam.
3 . Hide your friends lists as well. This will help prevent your friends becoming victims, and again , there's no real reason this info needs to be visible anyway.
4. Also, hide your birthdate (you can hide year only if you want).
Stay safe, folks. Put as little personal info on Facebook as you can and remember, if you wouldn't want to see it on the front page of your local news paper, don't use it on social media.
