A lot of complaints about this "Olympia" law firm which is supposed to be in Irvine CA going around and calling people up and saying that a house of some relative has been sold and that they have a pot of money for them or some relative. Total scam. I called that number and a person who I talked to -- I could barely hear because of the broken nature of the connection, said they were Olympia law firm in Irvine. Nothing makes any sense.
Foreclosure or trustee/lender sales of real estate are carefully regulated in most states. Normally the entity foreclosing (or trustee) gets the total proceeds of the sale. They do not hold any monies aside for anyone else.
Research shows this: https://www.notaryrotary.com/agency/details.asp?rpid=1AAA00112573
This is the blurb they put out:
This(Olympia Law, P.C.) is a law firm, not a signing service. They specialize in real estate and bankruptcy and hire notaries to obtain clients' signatures on retainers. PC means professional corporation but I cannot find any such business listed by the California Secretary of State.
Seems to me they are drifting off into scammery.
Hire notaries to obtain retainer signatures? Who does that? And why would you use a notary? Each state licenses its' own notaries. Usually the client himself or his own agent will sign off on retainer agreements.
What the devil kind of scam is this, and how, exactly, does it work?
Looks like something's wrong.
