Sounds like a great idea !  give them the same medicine - NOTHING !!!!!

Anyone with a cellphone can make a contact name with phone number then assign a ringtone.    Download a ringtone to your phone that does nothing like "silent" and assign it to the bill collectors.   Now everytime they call you will hear nothing.

It's GE Money Bank.  They service innumerable credit cards and other loans, and they use multiple phone numbers, I imagine so you may answer just one.  The reason they likely hang up is because they use an auto-dialer and if an answering machine picks up, it disconnects.  If you were to answer the call, they would connect you with a live person.  Problem is, I think the collectors may use a 3rd party agency, because my account is under a debt management program and they continue to call, so their information is not current.

I wasn't sure who belonged to this number and tried to answer the call this morning thinking it might have been a solicitation for health insurance.  A recording came on the line stating "please hold while your call is being connected" - I immediately hung up!  Good to know it's GE so that I won't try to answer it again - they are relentless and rude.  Thanks for this info!

Yes, collections calls fro this number.This is what I did. I created a google voice phone number and I have directed all collectors to call this number. If they leave a message it is transcribed and recorded on my computer. I am keeping track of all the calls I get. So far I get about 12 calls a day from the same phone number. No messeges. also if you call from google voice and speak to the collector you can record the call. This way if they harras you and use incorrect collection methods you have a recorded call on file that you can take to an attorney.  These collectors are getting out of hand and I will take all my calls to a lawyer if they dont settle down.

Sometimes we have to play as dirty as they play.
