The answer's very little other than to not take the call either live, or by machine. Without a number that has an answer of any kind, scammers have nothing to pass on. You're getting a higher volume of junk calls because your number's been purchased since there's a chance their calls will be answered. Then there's the famous DO NOT CALL LIST-which works ONLY AGAINST LEGITIMATE TELEMARKETERS. That excludes debt collectors, political calls, fundraisers, and last but not least, SCAMMERS. So that probably means what you're getting is not covered by it. WOOOOOOOOOO!
