I've been dealing with the company on the other end of this number for several days now.  They call themselves "National" but upon further prodding I got them to tell me "National Processing Services".  Supposedly they are a processing company that is hired by collection agencies that don't want to call consumers themselves.  In my particular case the collection agency is not a legal authorized collection agency so thankfully I did not give them any money to settle my old credit card issue!

Beware and do your research before you give them anything!

I got a call as well and he left me a message talking about a bad check and trying to press charges on me for it!!

i got the same call but it said that it was something very serious and that i was being processed thru my county and had no idea what this was. all he said was that he was a processor
