A hyper-cheerful woman told me I'd just won a "free vacation to sunny Orlando Florida!" for staying at a resort of theirs in the past. I doubt that I stayed at any such type of resort, and didn't want to know more since unsolicited "free" vacations always come with a catch that I will find myself hating. She wanted to ask me a few questions before transferring me to a different phone number to get my details, but I told her firmly I was suspicious and not interested and then hung up. Now I am here making this report. Backstory: I got sucked into one of these "deals" for "free vacations" once about 25 years ago and just wasted money (about $200 in fact) and never used the vouchers I was sent, which were so full of restrictions that they were useless and impractical. That was when I decided that telemarketers were either smarter or much less ethical than me, probably both, and I haven't bitten on one of these "deals" since. There's no free lunch, especially not an unsolicited one arriving out of the blue via telemarketer.
