Our receptionist got burned by same scam when she first started, and we got over-billed for refurbished toner, ink cartridges, etc . As mentioned above, they will call and ask for your copy machine serial number. Unsuspecting receptionists, trying to be helpful, give them the # (which these morons research for the type of toner compatible to your machine), and the caller innocently asks for the name of the person they are speaking to, thanks them and hangs up. A few days later, a shipment of toner, etc., arrives. The PO# on THEIR over-priced invoice is the name of the receptionist (or whoever they spoke with). Fortunately, most companies are on to this. I got a call last week with "private caller" as the ID--no introduction, no company name-and the girl just asked for our copier serial number. I said "No, thanks!" and hung up her!
