This number is actually legit. It is for the Hunterdon County (N.J.) Human Resources office (i.e. they hire people to work in various jobs for the county).  I got a call from this # from a 'Detective Brown' telling me he had 2 complaints ready to be filed against me for my arrest relating to ACH fraud and theft by deception.  He told me to call a Mrs. James at 708-689-4624 to resolve this matter (I also filed a report for the 708 # in this site so search as well).  I called back and the woman the H.R. transferred me to the Sheriff's Department (the sheriff is apparently named Brown which got me nervous).  The woman I spoke to there told me they've received calls like this and that it is simply a scam.  Apparently they are spoofing the County's number and using it as a scare tactic.  I ended up speaking to a legit detective there who was very nice and told me to file a complaint with my local police department.
