Two days ago I answered the call from this number and the man on the line said that he was calling for an organization that encompasses all police- state, county, town. He said that they were looking for donations for the organization. He didn't say what the money was to be used for and I didn't ask. He told me that I would be receiving information in the mail within the next two to three days and then he tried to get me to commit to a dollar amount.
I told him that I would probably donate if, after I got the info and researched it I found that the organization was reputable and not a fraud. I heard a sharp intake of breath on his end. Apparently, he didn't want to hear that I would be checking. Then he said that he would transfer me to someone else to take down my information and commitment to donate the minimum $15 donation. I said, "sure". When he transferred me I hung up. No one called back.
I believe that this is a telephone scam and if not I will not donate anyway because I have an extreme dislike for aggressive donation solicitation.
