Obviously a scam.  However, I receive the number in a different manner.  I posted an ad on craigslist and immediately upon posting, received an email stating:

"Saw your post on Craigslist and would like more info...I am going to be on the road so could you give me a call when it is convenient? Don 908 554 2787"

The email was obviously automatically generated from a script that's leeching off newly posted craigslist posts.  I didn't call the number as that would only ensure that I receive spam phone calls from this piece of garbage.

I received a voice message from a gentleman by the name of Jeff Pear to give me a call back. I didn't recognize him until he mentioned Paulson Investments. Afterwards I told him I wasn't interested now but it was ok for me to call later. He was very polite and wished me well.

I did a little more digging and found the company's website:
http://www.paulsoninvestment.com/

Received similar call from a male identifying himself in a somewhat vague and garbled manner as "Jeff Pear." He did not state the purpose of his call or the name of the entity on whose behalf he was calling. His manner and tone suggested that we knew one another and this was an urgent business matter that I needed to call back on as soon as possible. In my opinion, this is a hoosier move and terribly unprofessional.

received a call from this guy today, I could not make out anything except "Jeff".  When I called him back, I got disconnected.  I googled the number and found this thread.  When I called a second time, he immediately started telling me that he had spoken with me back in November, wanted to share some investment advice, etc.  I don't remember ever speaking with this guy. Be careful.

When I checked my voicemail I too received a message from Jeff Pear trying to touch base with him when it was most convenient for me. So I googled the number since his name didn’t sound familiar and I stumbled across these messages. I suppose it was curiosity that encouraged me to call back so when I spoke with Jeff I told him I wasn’t in need of a stock broker at this time but it was ok for him to try again. He did insist we had spoken before which I didn’t remember but I do also get these calls often. I have to disagree with the previous two comments especially the one about being “careful”.  Anyone claiming to be a stock broker must have a license; federal and state which can be searched through FINRA.
I get these calls all the time and recognize the difference between honesty and duplicity. He was honest.

Same experience, and his message sure made it sound as though we were already friends "I hope all is well . . ."
