Ongoing scam by someone who finds the name of an real police detective in a real law enforcement department and then sends out an e-mail or texts impersonating the police detective and accusing the recipient of sex crimes. There was a recent event noted on 800notes, which involved the impersonation of a real police detective at a real police department;--Cape Coral Florida. See: 239-220-9588
If you do receive such a communication , contact the police department or sheriff's office that is mentioned-- tell them what you received.
Also , contact your own police department and make a compliant. of extortion.
