I got a call from a man who said he was calling from the local animal shelter, asking me to send money to a PO Box in a UPS Store. I did some checking and the guy's name is Grady Warren from the Jacksonville, FL area.

He is a member of some far-left animal-rights groups like PETA. This is a scam to sucker people out of their money, thinking they are donating to their local animal shelter. In reality, no money goes towards any animals' shelter or food or care. It's a money-making SCAM.
