SCAMMERS! I have recently purchased a call block device which requires the caller to press a digit to get through. This bounces all robocalls after one ring in my house phone system. BUT, I have the ringer turned off, so only the whitelisted calls that I have pre-programmed (family, friends, business associates, etc) ring through. Which is sweet because I NEVER have to hear the phone ring on 99% of the calls when I am home (I work from my home, and these telemarketing scumbags had all but rendered my phone line useless). At present, after about 4 months of use, I have 176 and counting phone numbers of these scumbags in my REJECT list. A couple of times a week, I look up all of the new numbers, and most of them are known scammers so into the BLOCK list they go. Then, my phone never rings -- even once -- when the vermin try again.
"Florida Troopers?" Please! This caller is a boiler room op that solicits money stating that "it goes to a great cause," when in fact just a few pennies on the dollar go to the charity and about 90% of it goes into the scammers wallet! And the number probably isn't legit either as most of these dummies fake a caller-ID number through Skype or some other VOIP service. When the number gets "too hot" on sites like this, they just make up a new number and start again (and they will be BLOCKED again!). DO NOT GIVE THESE SCUMBAGS A DIME! You're better off dropping off a check to your local sheriff's office or state trooper's office if you really want to help them, but DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO THESE VERMIN!
