We went to the home and garden show in Asheville in 2010 and entered a drawing for a prize at the Gutter guard stand. We had expressed interest in the product, but they would not sell it to us unless we paid them an extra $800 to fit it. After the show we were inundated with calls from gutterguard and they would not quit until I resorted to cussing them out. This year the same problem. We entered a drawing for a prize, not for them to call us about fitting their product. Once again they insisted they could not sell us the product unless we paid 800 to fit it. We told them we were not interested.
Four days after the show we get a call. The guy insisted that we had asked them to call. I told him we had found something equally suitable online and we could purchase it and fit it ourselves. He then proceeded to tell me we would not be able to fit it properly and that the product was not as good as theirs. I politely informed him that my Husband was an engineer and scientist and we do all out own repairs, building around the house, plus I had not told him what product we had purchased so how would he know if it worked. He said no other products worked like theirs. I thought I had got rid of them. HUH Yesterday, from the same number a woman phones to ask when they can come round and give us a quote for vinyl to be fitted to the hangover of the roof. I said we never asked for that. She said your Husband did and it saves you painting every year which is why he expressed interest in it. I was with my Husband the whole time during the show at at NO time did he express any interest in vinyl for the overhang for two reasons, one, we never saw such a product and two, we had the house painted 8 months ago. She informed me that I need to get together with my Husband and discuss this and she would phone back Monday to make the appointment. She talked to me like I was a down trodden, simple housewife. Little does she know. I hate these companies that lie, mislead and generally pester the life out of people who did not even ask them to call.
When she phones back on Monday she is in for rude awakening. I am sure she will hang up the phone pretty fast. These companies do themselves a dis-service as we woud never buy from a company that is less then upfront and totally honest.
