texted my number (registered with the National Do Not Call Registry or NDNCR) and left me with this message:

Never text back. Block future text from this number using a good blocker software and report violation to the NDNCR each time they text you. Also, never accept any text or call without callerID that you can make complaint with in case of violation. Let's stop these companies to letter everyone's inbox.
