SCAM ALERT! We are health care providers. Someone named Beverly called our office, leaving a message saying she represented Cigna insurance company and that they had received a bank statement from us.. The statement , she said, was not enough and they needed a copy of a cancelled check. She left a fax number, 860 256 6752, and said to call her with any questions. Seemed highly suspicious; we've had no recent interaction with Cigna. I called Cigna's published  phone number on their website, and their representative couldn't find any record of the company attempting to contact us. Also, "Beverly"'s phone number was not in the company directory. I also googled "Cigna telephone scams" and found numerous postings about callers claiming to represent Cigna and asking for personal information. I can only conclude we'd been targeted by a similar phishing scam.
Beware of dealing with strangers over the phone using a well known business as a cover.  Beverly talked fast, loud and sounded as if she'd recited the same message numerous times. Maybe she's  paid per call.
