I  had a number from The Bronx, NY (718)618-0877 that said the government treasury department was giving me $6700 because I paid my taxes and had no criminal activity. The man calling me was Indian and couldn't speak English all that well. He had my name and my address. They asked me if a WalMart or Walgreens was anywhere close to my house and gave me the number (850) 745-2027 to call a man named Alvin Park and he'd give me the number to collect my money. I did not call this number, but instead came online and checked it out. This number is linked to fraudulent activity.

Grant scams:

The government does not call people up and offer them free money because you paid your taxes on time, have never been arrested, have paid all your bills, or whatever excuse they can make up.  In order to get a grant you need a valid reason (not one of the above and not just because you need money), you have to fill out tons and tons of paperwork, wait a long time, and might not even get the grant in the end.  If you are lucky enough to get the grant after all that paperwork, they do not ask you to pay taxes, transfer fees, or any other types of fees.  Also, please note that the government would never ask you to pay these so called taxes or fees to some anonymous person using Western Union, Moneygram, or any of the cards such as iTunes cards which is a new favorite among foreign scammers.

I received a call on my cell phone from 770-546-5765. The heavily accented man told me I was going to receive a government grant for $6700. Gave me a confirmation number and told me to call 850-745-2027. At that number I was to ask for Eric Brown. The man who took the call informed me that I would need to go to Walgreens to get a money card to pay fees. When I objected, he started a string of profanity.
