2/25/2014 5:30 Caller ID = Texas One of a zillion calls I get regularly. Like BostonHolly, I don't even bother anymore if the caller id number comes through as a State #, Odd # or unrecognized #. If I mistakenly answer, it takes just five seconds to realize they are calling to sell you meds. You can tell by the delay and background noise. I just say "not interested" and hang up. The caller can't remove you from their list; even if they want to, they can't. This is how they make a living and I don't blame the callers, just the organizers. Been going on for about 6-7 years but can't change my number because it is used for work. About 4 years ago I attempted to get it stopped through DNC list, FBI, State and Local Police and even the FCC. The answers always concluded with "we can't stop them", the criminals establish new numbers so rapidly, the agencies are still tracking down the old numbers that aren't even being used anymore. I've learned to Google the strange phone numbers and if I read entries like in here, I add them as a contact and then have those calls go directly to voicemail. They auto dialer never leaves a voicemail. I'm hoping some new technology will break soon to stop these criminal calls. Just be ready...ultimately you may get a call from someone claiming to be from the DEA and if you pay a fine you could avoid going to court, etc. They are convincing but DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. I think the only way to make this stop is if people stop buying meds from overseas online, and stop paying these extortionist fees. I'm always open to others' advice, but unfortunately I can tell by people's attempts to stop them described here, if this has been going on for that individual for a few months, a year, a few years or longer ......... Sorry to be so pessimistic, but I tried my hardest and they won. So blocking is my only way to remain sane :-)
