This is what was text to me from this number in response to a craigslist ad I posted:
Them: Please confirm if your ad on Craigslist is still available for sale.  MUST GO!!! Beautiful Queen Bed - $200 (Flowood)
Me: "it is"
Them: Awesome because i'm buying and i'm paying you via a check in which i'm going to wait till check clears your bank before item is picked up. Kindly send me your names and address and check will be mailed. Rob

Who would fall for this? Ha

I received the same text 4:30pm yesterday.
Please confirm if your ad on Craigslist is still available for sale.   Vermont Castings Vigilant 1977 - $550 (Barkhamsted)" Did you ever get a check? Is this person legit?

Let's see... Sending more money and asking you to send the extra back? That's money laundering and is HIGHLY illegal. No they are not legit, they are a scam.

For the passerby: A bank must make funds available to you in 2-3 days after you deposit a check. But that does not mean the check has cleared. Even in the 21st Century it can take 4-6 weeks. That is how this scam works. When you are asked to forward money, especially by a cash wire transfer service, to a 3rd party- It's a scam. Every time. Remember, Craigslist and Kijiji are social media selling sites. Local - in person - cash.
