They probably got your name and number from Facebook. I think the texts are automated. If they give their Yahoo Id, report it to Yahoo abuse.

Got that message today hi jim.... told me to add to Y! Messenger. Lost my phone few weeks ago and could have been possible i knew this person, but starting to think this a scam of sorts.
