This is a prepaid automated call from PAYTEL COMMUNICATIONS by an inmate in a city or county jail. Pastel COMMUNICATIONS is a carrier for inmates in many city and county jails and I believe state prisons.  Save the number in your contacts and the next time this number CALLS, ANSWER it. You will be able to hear the name of the inmate calling which a machine doesnt catch. Inmates get a one time free one minute call the first time to any phone. At the end of the one minute it will tell you how to set up a paytel account for that inmate. The inmate can also do this with money he has on his books. Erica Dawson

I received a call from this number but not knowing anyone in Utah, I didn't answer.  If it's important, they can leave a message.

They called my work phone today. I heard a man on the other end say "hello" and when I said it back, he didn't respond. It sounded like he stayed on the line for a few seconds and then I just hung up.

Ignored the first call. Answered out of curiosity a half hour later. No response at the other end.

He has called many times, and hung up.  Finally had a dialogue and he was rather threatening, and THEN announced he was calling on behalf of New York City (even though calling from Salt Lake, Utah) to find out if people smoke.  Have reported him to the "Unlawful Calls" center and to the local police.  The calls are being traced.
