Yeah, same here, the way i knew they were a scam is because any lawyer/law group is unable to give away any details about why they wish to speak with you. They can only tell the person who isn't you (i.e. a reference or family member) who they are and that they are trying to get in touch with you. My friend called me with a name and that the person was calling because I had a supposed fraud lawsuit against me.
When I talked to the individual I deliberately was rude and hateful to see if (like a lawyer) he could keep a calm composure. When I asked for an actual notice in the mail or proof that he was indeed a lawyer, he got mad at me and said "Bring your [***] down to Miami into the court house for your trial and I will show you that I'm a real lawyer." and also that "He would send me nothing except for police to my house.". Not exactly something a lawyer would say.
He's obviously a scam, phishing info off of payday loan databases and websites. Beware. The same guy also, uses the phone number 916-395-0000.
And btw, thanks a bunch magic jack for giving these guys disposable telephone numbers. I greatly appreciate it.
