I received a call from this number but did not answer it since I did not recognize the number. A recorded message told me to call back immediately because the IRS needed important information?!?!? What is this?

Its a scam, and its all over the news.  If you speak to the caller he will tell you that the police are on the way to arrest you for underpaying your taxes.  If you pay the overdue amount you can avoid arrest.  But you have to pay right this second by giving him your credit card number or bank account number.

That's not how the real IRS works.  The IRS does not call you.  The police are not on the way to your home to arrest you.  The scammer is planning to spend all of the money in your bank account or all of the available credit on your credit card.  Congratulations on not falling for it.

FAKE IRS ROBO CALL. Do not fall for this you guys. The IRS doesn't call anyone, EVER.

Called the number back from Skype, and got Tom White with a very thick Indian accent telling me to go to Walmart and send a money gram. Asked him if they take Bitcoin, he was confused so I said my only other option was to pay in f@cks given, and I had none. Also he allegedly drives a Ferrari, like all the actual IRS employees I actually know.

Called the number back and the man that barely spoke english wanted me to go to walmart and get a money gram. They are real winners. They like it when you call over and over again. They ask if you want to give them a [***] and call you a [***], and a [***]
