2x call from this number.  I did not pick up, but I have no clue who/what this is

This number shows up when my friend calls me....they have US cellular and their number is nothing close 781-301-0848....Why is this happening?

Have received a call from this number two nights in a row after 11pm. I didn't answer the first night, but did answer the second night. There was no response on the line, then it hung up.

This just happened to me. I don't answer calls that show strange area codes. Shortly after the call I'm alerted that I have a voicemail.  I listened to it and it was a friend of mine that has a pre-paid US Cellular plan.  I told her what number was displaying and to call back again and I would answer.  Sure enough, she called back (same number displayed 781-301-0848).  Strange thing is that I thought this was a Massachusetts area code but she was still in North Carolina but in a different area code.  Must be something to do with the cell path it takes to get here since she could not use my number which was programmed into her phone.  She had to dial my number starting with area code even though my number is already programmed in her phone with the area code. Hope this helps with some of the mystery. Could be that hang ups are from people realizing they have the wrong number.  I called this number back and got nothing but dead air.

Keep receiving calls from the 781-301-0848 number but I don't answer as we have no ties to a Massachusetts number. Simply irritating to say the least.
