This doesn't help for 'new' numbers that call us; We've blocked HUNDREDS of #s; the scammers just find ANOTHER number to spoof - and call again. We'd gotten four calls over the last three days from 903-847-0002, "OVERTON, TX" but after the first call its was blocked. So, tonight, they tried from THIS number, I guess.
And, whether 'legal'/exempt, legit, or not, we CHOOSE NOT to answer surveys anymore unless they come in via MAIL or EMAIL from a verifiable source we recognize, and with the promise of a reward at the end - a coupon, sweeps entry or such. We WILL NOT participate in active 'data collection' on ourselves from unidentifiable cold callers.
What is SO MADDENING about these calls for us is, we use docs in the Boston area for very critical specialty medical care that we cannot get locally, some 150 miles away. These docs have practices in multiple locations/phone numbers/even area codes. Today, I sent an email to my doc about some symptoms I'd been having; just minutes later this call came in. I never know when to pick up immediately (so the doc doesn't have to wait or put a msg on the machine), let it go to the machine to verify the caller OR pick up/hang up to break the call to discourage further garbage calls. Every time I try and guess, I'm wrong.
I didn't pick this one up, but let it ring 4 times, waiting for it to go to ans. machine. It stopped before the machine picked up. Now the robodialer/computer knows this is a 'good' number and will continue to harass us. Yes, I'll block this one, but the game of whack-a-mole continues, with no end in sight.
Thanks to those who posted this caller's M.O.
