Caller ID says "ACQUIA,INC". They leave no message.
I call back after hours (using *67 to block my number). I hear the following, "<tone> The number you've dialed is not in service. <silence>" The silence goes on for about 3 minutes and then it hangs up on me. If this was some phone company message, there would be no extended silence. I believe the statement plus the silence is their outgoing message.
I was curious who "Acquia" was. There is a computer company in Boston with that name. I googled them and called them. Of course, they hadn't called me. They provide IT solutions for medium to large businesses. They would not call me, someone outside of the IT field at home.
So the caller fakes a disconnected phone and has a spoofed caller ID. Smells like some kind of SCAM. I suspect this is the MS Windows scam. One time the scammers spoofed a DELL tech support number to appear more legitimate. Likely the same thing here.
