I recently answered a post on craigslist and did indeed got scam. House was so beautiful in Toronto. Got a called from a man name Samuel Jeffery claiming to be owner and out of town. In California, doesn't care about the money. Did went and look at house that day. Stupid me did not looked up anything but sent my hard earn money to San Jose to a woman name Jean Thames his assistance. Have so may emails from this man even the lease I signed. Looks real until he ask for me for more and still holding on to keys. Sent a Fed ex document and went through it and saw it was white out and fake. This man would of made my family and I homeless. Have contacted police but the money is gone. Money was actually picked up in a Walmart  in San Jose. This M seems to forget that you need a picture ID to get money. He's not working alone. One day he will be caught and will be CONNED

This number tried to rent me a house in Vancouver. Total scam, police were called. Person claimed to be Gilbert William owner who moved.

Elaborate scam, person first posted on Craigslist the property, then claimed not to care about money and wanted to get the rental application and determine who they would like to have first.... called the police once found out it was a scam (I went to the property and the person living there confirmed my suspicions). Outcome TBD

Also tried to rent me a house in burnaby, said he had to move suddenly to Florida and couldn't find a reputable agent so he would fed ex me the "bunch" of keys once I money ordered him $600 because it was an insignificant amount if money. I googled the address and phone number and found this. Thank goodness we have eachothers backs against scammers.

Similar gimmick from a CURTIS WEINBERG.  Was ready to rent us his home in Naples, Florida. I got suspicious, Emailed the city and found out that he was not the owner - but it was too late, the bank draft had been mailed. I notified the bank and oh miracle, they were able to recover the money !
I would advise anybody ready to rent a house to check with the city who is the real owner BEFORE sending any money...
