I think is the same place called me last week under another number (617) 999-0000 (already reported that one and blocked it on my phone).  I told the woman during today's call that we do not do business with them and hung up.  We use a company recommended by the people who installed our boiler.  This number will be blocked as well, based on what I'm reading here!

This scamming company calls and states that you are due for a flue cleaning.  I already have another company coming out in two days to do my chimney and I explained that to the rude jerk on the line (His name was Rodney. yeah, sure)  .  He said "no, no, no...you just had your furnace flue cleaned and now we need to do your chimney".    Adding them to my phone blocker.

Got a call today from this number, caller ID also says Rutland, VT.  The caller asked for my husband by first name. When I asked who was calling, the person merely gave me a first name of John. When I pressed for more information I was given the name Johnson and no further information and asked again for my husband. I said that he had still not identified where he was calling from or what it was regarding.  He then made up an name and said he was "Bob's son." We barely use our home phone, and we know NOBODY in Vermont. He then rudely said "Can you just tell me whether he is home or not, and be honest?" I told him now, that if he thought it was okay to call my house and not identify himself, than he had another think coming. I hung up.

I'm sure, like others say, it is a chimney sweeping scam.  They are always "in the area." Jerks.
