Got a call this morning from this number. They left a message requesting I call the number back because they were the IRS and they were starting a lawsuit against me. Never mentioned my name or anything else. After doing a little research I discovered the number was a wireless number in Anderson, IN. Furthermore, the IRS has a warning on their website about such scams. These scammers will threaten to jail people, deport them, burn people's house down and other criminal activity if they don't transfer funds to a prepaid debit cards. Some have even threatened people's lives. Most people don't even have tax issues. Additionally, there is an article by a woman who works for the FTC. She came home from work one day and had the exact same message on her voicemail. She had given a lecture at work just that day about this same phishing scam. She said the IRS will always contact you by mail first, will never threaten you with jail and will attempt to work out a payment plan.
