Just got a call from this number, ignored it, and they actually left voice-mail.  .  "Hi Lisa, this is ___ with Merchants Bank calling about "the account...", " etc.  My name is not Lisa.  I have never had an account at the named bank.  The call-back number the female caller left had an 877 area code.  She did sound matter-of-fact and professional, other than the message being vague - which would even be plausible on the face of it - there may be banking rules against leaving personally-identifiable information in a voice-mail,...  Overall, at least two strikes - sounds like a social engineering/phone-phishing scam to me.

Identified as Merchants Bank and Trust. Credit Control..of Lafayette Bank and Trust. Message was not clear regarding nature of call. I called back and they were unsure of the reason for call. Asking for different names possibly associated with account. I hesitated then refused to release my birth date. The worker appeared to be wanting to help and professional. Future calls will be reported for any social engineering attempted.
