I get at least 3 or more calls from this number a day.... I work from home and it is annoying.  I am going to answer the call next time and tell them to STOP calling and lose my number.  They don't care what time or what day it is... they call ALL the time.  It has to stop.

740 IS AN AREA CODE IT IS IN LONDON OHIO. I LIVED THEIR MY WHOLE LIFE, BUT IT IS ALSO USED FOR MANY CELL PHONES IN SOME PARTS OF OHIO.

If they provide a phone number and identification on caller ID, they have managed to get around the law, and you won't be able to sue them.  I know how you feel, I too pay to have an unlisted number.  This is, actually, an OH area code according to Yahoo.  It's a newer one, but it's a legitimate area code in Ohio.  Be glad it's only come up twice; they've been calling me incessently all summer long, and at all times of the day/night.

They call several times a day--even after 9:00 pm and never leave a message. If it is the Ohio Troopers, they have more than one number. We have told the Troopers, an organization that uses a boiler room fundraising model and which spends about 90% of the money it raises on its fundraising and administration, repeatedly to take us off their list. In the 'Columbus Dispatch' dated 21 Feb 09. there is an article about the court case againist this organization. Only 4% of what they collect goes to help those in need. Most of what they collect goes into the owners pocket, according to the newspaper.
