just called me, some unaccented guy on speaker phone in noisy environment who apparently couldn't operate his phone. i actually waited patiently for them to work things out (i was curious), and then ended up hanging up on me after 30-40 seconds. didn't try again

A member of the family answered the phone and the caller asked for me and said he was calling for some campaign. When I was handed the phone, I kept saying "Hello" and there was no response. I called the number back and heard a recorded message that said the "Google voice subscriber was not available". It was almost as though someone knew I lived in the Denver metro area and used an online telephone directory to call listed numbers with my surname and then asked for me in order to verify my phone number and address. I hope this isn't some kind of attempt at identify theft or credit card fraud.
