I just received this same email from Mr. Franklin C. Milles. I've actually received 3-4 of the same type of emails this week. People please beware no one is going to entrust strangers with this type of money to run errands and purchase things for them. Times are hard and people are taking desperate measures to get money. Please don't fall for these scams. I replied to them. I have contacted the FBI and haven't heard back from any of them.

First off, the wages are out of line with the job offered. $600. @ 40 hours is $15.00 an hour. To go shopping? Well, that's not what this scam is about. It's all about the checks. The fake ones. The one's you'll deposit, then 24-48 hours later withdraw funds & send to someone else. The giveaway in the scam will be the use of a cash wire transfer service (Western Union, etc.) Which is of course cash. Then 4-6 weeks later. The checks bounce. Craigslist is full of job offer scams. They vary a little, but they usually involve receiving checks/wiring money.

How did it clear the bank if it was a fraudulent check

I would say it didn't clear since that poster indicated that she owes the bank money.
